Offset front foregrip

I'm thinking of removing the front furniture of my AIMS to prevent further BB damage and installing a Rail system instead.

I would also install a vertical foregrip but I would like to offset it to the left side of the gun to allow unhindered removal of the mags(remember, the tip forward to remove).

Any suggestions on how I can achieve this?

kwestyon: offset lang ba o medyo angular din? meaning, nakatabing sya konti to facilitate mag removal and improve ergonomics as well?

filakairsoft/welcome-to-filak.gif premier stanski filakairsoft/costumed-smiley-088.gif

i imagine you'd have no problem doing what you want. there are quite a number of tactical foregrips available so you'd probably have to use one that does not have the bottom rail. attaching the vertical grip would then just be a matter of drilling a hole in the lower handguard and using a short bolt.

epoxy or super glue not advisable, IMHO, since that may not endure skirmishing.

perhaps a fully vented upper handguard too? the type that just drapes over the gas tube?

I beleive this picture shows what I want to achieve. Take note how the vertical foregrip is installed. I've also seen several AKs in the Gunner DVD "Magazine" configured like this.

*picture used without permission- sorry....

However, I might use this Rail system instead.

It will allow the vertical foregrip to be moved backwards a bit.

I do prefer the wood furniture aesthetics wise.. pero sayang nga yung kahoy.. bugbog saraddo sa BB hits.

I might try to re-varnish the wood furniture of my AIMS later. I'm sure the higher end varnishes should stand up to BB impacts better than the current varnish. Try ko sana Valspar or Diamante(polyeurethan varnish).

really had to clamp down my eyelids into pinholes so that i can look at the bewowulf pic without going blind wacko.gif

besides, wouldn't the front be terribly tiring to hold up with that much of an offset, kom stan?

i too vote for the revarnishing wink.gif

LOL! THe pic is resized by the forum scripts to a smaller size. But the original pic is large enough. Just click on it to see it at it's full size.

As pictured, the foregrip is too far forward for my tastes. It's location is limited in his AEG due to the location of his side railings.

If an X47 kit is used, the grip can be move backwards- and the offset for the grip will be a necessity(and not just an aesthetic feature) to keep it from interfering with the magazine.

GOt a few more dings last weekend. Will have to buy a can of Dimante urethane varnish soon. Will google for more AIMS pics so I can get the proper stain(color) for the wood.
