dark brown or mahogany will do, komrad. if you're using spray paint, squirt the paint on to a piece of an old newspaper. do it close to the paper so there will be a pool of paint on the paper. dip a cotton bud tip into the pooled paint and brush the tip on your intended rusting surface.

have a rag handy so that you can wipe off any excess. oops, it's actually best to dab off any excess cos wiping can sometimes affect the surrounding area.

experimentation and some patience will give you the proper effect.

after you have achieved what you like, a bit of finishing coat on that area will help to keep the effect more or less permanent.

have fun! happy.gif

No Problemo, komrad.

and i've used Bosny, RJ, as well as Do It acrylic. they both work well. RJ is cheapest, IIRC. tongue.gif

Needed:
  • #120 silicon carbide abrasive paper
  • Dull Black or Flat Black acrylic epoxy spray paint
  • Walnut Plastic varnish
  • Paint brush
  • Screw Driver
  • Hollow Block

Step:
  • Scratch the wood on Hollow block, follow the wood grain lines, do not scratch different lines. Single scratch maybe enough.
  • Use the screw driver to create a dent.
  • Spray with black paint. Let it dry.
  • Use abrasive paper to take out the black paint partially, be creative here.
  • Clean the dust with damp cloth and let it dry.
  • Apply Varnish using the paint brush.
  • Re-apply upto 3layer of varnish if you want a look a like wet look finish, let it dry between per layer.
  • 24hr drying time recommendation before reassembly.
