Classic Army SVD mini review, lots of pics and some insights hehe...

So here it is...my little and very short microscopic review of CA SVD hehe!

Waaa....I hate the GB design, especially the upper part

My initial impressions and insights...

Looks
- The steel/metal parts are painted a little too shiny for my taste. The pics will speak more hehe. So nuff said.

Handling
- It's little front heavy yet it's light enough overall and it's just so darn long hehe and that's nice.

Cheek rest
- although installed too forward by Komrad Garuda and as shown on the pics hehe it's well secured and the holders are sturdy enough.

Battery Compartment
- here's where this rifles starts to make some annoyance atleast for me. battery compartment is not too spacious. those very thin tootsieroll or stick type of lipoly or 8.4 volts stick type nicad or nimh will fit though and enough space for a mosfet or relay.

Low Cap Mag
- it's a nice ribbed stamp steel mag with 40 rounds mag as specified but hopefully classic army would release a hi cap version.

Disassembly and reassembly
- It's really easy to disassemble and rassembling it. The quick release besides the selector switch is fully functional but you need to take out the 2 allen screws first before removing the top cover. Again hopefully the pics as well those CA svd youtube vids are good enough guides.

Metal Reciever
- CA is the best when it comes to metal recievers so for their SVD it's simply an awesome
part of the rifle. Can't say though if what material is used, hopefully it's made of aluminum just
like on my CA slr hehe.

Front Assembly
- It's screwed in and well aligned. It's a very tough design seems like CA followed the design on the real thing.

Gearbox
- ooohhh wooowww!!! it's beauty!!! It's like a version 1 gb design (tm famas) but way better.
You need to manually fire the gb until you catch a 100% decocked position of the piston for easy diassembly of the gb since you can't remove the motor to decompress the spring via the arl.
Walls on the gb are thick enough. Inspite that very questionable uppert part this gb is very promising I won't be surprise if it can handle an sp170 with ease. 7mm bearing busings, short type motor yet the weaker motor of CA here, had to insulate that open wire though.

CA Stock shimming
- as usual CA gunsmiths really shims their aeg's really well. So far all the brand new CA aeg's I've
open up never did CA made any simple error on shimming unlike the hellish shimmings on cyma or ank aeg's. Also good quality lubrication was applied as always.

Other gearbox internals
- 19 tooth piston body and sector gear
- extra long cylinder
- pesky old style spring guide with bearing...I immediately change it to a systema or techpro style of spring guide with a hole for easier spring installation.
- sector chip? well removed the cut of lever and a full auto svd will kill the svd purist LOL!
- version 7 cylinder head
- a nice ASN more like an m4 length.
- version 7 or 6 style of tappet plate yet longer


The hop-up
- Well here is where things suddenly goes down a little for the CA SVD. I really don't like that rubber circular hop-nub design so installing an SCS is not good unless that part is modded really well first.
Hop up chamber is a little too tight, notice the grinds on the nozzle on the pics. Hop rubber was slightly loose so sealing routines a must. Aside that it's still a good design especially when adjusting the hop yet the AK47 hop-up is still the best.

Accuracy
- Well didn't really bother testing it's accuracy while in stock form since the stock fps was still very low for us Pinoys hehe. After finetuning it and testing it on my funky firing range hehe wasn't really satisfied with the flight of the bb's well since I was still using .2 instead of .25 atleast aside installing a lengthy tight barrel. I miss using my 650mm barrel.

Stock fps and then some...
- Law abiding 330-340 fps for CA's american and european costumers hehe.......ay ang hina ika nga ni Kom Garuda hehe! So after fintunning it an installing a secret spring managed to full out 480 fps, hop-up zero. I was hoping I could squeeze out an initial 500-510 fps but seems the hop-up needed more work but I didn't had enough time for the hop-up mods I was thinking of. The spring and spring guide are the only parts change.


Important Upgrades
- mosfet with or without AB or Relay...A TOTAL MUST!!! or those trigger switch contacts will burn easy.


Overall rating
- 7 out of 10 as stock.......but once this baby is finetuned and upgraded to the max
it will rule the sniping aeg world!

With this designed, could be a future problem using a higher spring, end up a cracked gearbox(black line/yellow arrow)
Just because of no upper parts(red line/blue arrow).

yeah seems that upper part seems a weak design.
and yet we won't know until someone really upgrade this hehe.

i wonder if RS svd covered that part?

yeah fafa 9th only in semi auto but easily hackable to fire at full auto hehe.

could be komrad, RS has 4 gears compared to CA which has 3... awts.. therefore it has a unique gearbox design..
